Our story begins in 2007, when American writer Elizabeth Kostova and Bulgarian publisher Svetlozar Zhelev co-founded EKF to support creative writing in Bulgaria, to create conditions for professional exchange on an international level, and to empower communities to develop through literature and writing.

We are here to provide a platform for writers of all ages and abilities from around the world to access professional development opportunities through a variety of training and networking formats. Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to sustain creativity as a tool for empowerment and social change, foster collaboration, and build connections within the literary community and the broader creative community.
